    Here you can find further details of all the programmes, courses and resources available in the Learning Hub. Click the link for the item that interests you to find out more about what's involved and who to contact about joining. 

    Some of the courses are open-access and available to everyone without registration. e.g. Exploring Eldership and Safeguarding

    Others are available to those who are registered in the Hub.  e.g. Planning Your Learning.  If you wish to access these programmes then please email  learninghub@urc.org.uk

    Some of the resources can only be accessed by those who are enrolled in these programmes, e.g. Stepwise and the Church Leadership Programme.  Further information about these programmes and how to participate can be found in the information on these pages.

    • Exploring Eldership

        Are you an Elder seeking to find out more about Eldership or how you might further help your church? Or, perhaps you have recently been called to be an Elder and are just starting out on your Eldership journey. Exploring Eldership is a six module training programme designed to help you learn more about the ministry of Eldership, whatever point you are at on that journey.  This programme is open to all.

        Safeguarding is an open-access foundation course that is designed to expand your knowledge and understanding of why safeguarding and good practice are so important to all of us in the URC (and beyond).   This programme is available to all.

    • Faith-filled Life - Stepwise

      Faith-filled Life is the first stream of Stepwise. It focuses on identity, place and purpose and is designed to be a core introductory experience that will lead to other Stepwise streams.

      Faith-filled Life is made up of a number of key themes:

      • Why Stepwise? Why now? An introduction to Faith-filled Life
      • Who am I? Exploring identity and faith
      • Where do I fit? How faith shapes my daily life
      • Where do I fit in my community? God’s work in the world and my part in it.
      • What journey am I on? My walk with God
      • The group project
      • How do I deal with challenges? Building confidence for facing life challenges
      • Which way now? Looking back and looking forward

      • Faith-filled Worship - Stepwise

        Stepwise Faith-filled Worship gives you the opportunity to explore the breadth and depth of Christian worship and lays some foundations for participating in the preparation and leading of worship in your church or community.

        It is designed for anyone who is interested in learning more about worship as part of their journey of discipleship and for those who feel called to lead worship locally. As well as exploring the building blocks of worship participants will engage in some practical tasks and a group project to prepare and deliver an act of contextual and creative worship.

        • Faith-filled Community - Stepwise

          Stepwise Faith-filled Community will help you look with fresh eyes at the communities and neighbourhoods you belong to. You will talk about why and how Christians can get involved in building communities, discuss different models of community work and be introduced to new ways of being church. All of this will help you to identify how you can work with others in order to make a difference locally.

          • Faith-fuelled Leadership - Stepwise

            Stepwise Faith-fuelled Leadership takes you on a journey through the key aspects of Christian Leadership, helping to equip you for leadership in the church and beyond.

            It is designed for anyone who serves the church in any kind of leadership role – as an elder, local church leader, house-group leader etc. It will also be of interest to anyone who wants to explore the qualities and characteristics of Christian leadership in non-church settings (e.g. a workplace, community group etc).

            • Church Leadership Programme

              • Read more about the Church Leadership Programme Page

                The URC Church Leadership Programme aims to refresh experienced lay and ordained leaders helping them to develop external skills from their core sense of being.  Previous participants have said that it has helped them to regain their confidence, better understand their leadership context and become more self-aware.  The programme gives time and space for reflection and accompanied learning, whilst also giving participants the opportunity to work on a personal development project which aims to put some of the CLP learning into practice.

                Each CLP year runs from September to June, with a mixture of in-person and online learning.  

                Applications for the 2023-24 programme are now open.

                Planning Your Learning is an online tool to assist you to develop a learning plan and then help you to reflect upon your learning as part of your continuing education for ministry. It can be used by anyone who is thinking about their own personal or professional development and who wants to explore further learning as part of their discipleship journey.
